The western market is getting the NES Mini in November, but the NES began life in Japan back in July 1983 as the Famicon, and Nintendo is obviously making a mini version of this too.
Announced overnight, the Famicon Mini is exactly what you'd expect, shrinking down the classic "family computer" to something which measures only 14cm x 10cm and bundling in 30 classic titles.
Something which differentiates the Famicon Mini from the NES Mini – apart from its looks – is the fact it features two hardwired controllers as standard. The NES Mini ships with one detachable controller, with a second able to be connected.
As with the NES Mini there will be an HDMI output offering up to 720p, and the device can be powered with a USB adapter.
Here's the included games list (which will be in Japanese only):
- Donkey Kong
- Pac-Man
- Excitebike
- Balloon Fight
- Ice Climber
- Galaga
- Yie Ar Kung-Fu
- Super Mario Bros
- The Legend of Zelda
- Atlantis no Nazo
- Gradius
- Makai Village
- Solomon’s Key
- Metroid
- Castlevania
- Adventure of Link
- Bumping Sumo
- Super Mario Bros. 3
- Ninja Gaiden
- Mega Man 2
- River City Ransom
- Double Dragon Ⅱ: The Revenge
- Super Tamashito Luo
- Final Fantasy Ⅲ
- Dr. Mario
- Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari
- Downtown Soreyuke Daiundoukai
- Mario Open Golf
- Super Mario USA
- Kirby’s Adventure
Nintendo's Famicon Mini launches in Japan on November 10. Those wanting a NES Mini in time for Christmas better get an order in quick as launch stock appears to be selling out.
