New Metro video game due next year

New Metro video game due next year
Metro: Last Light – not a game set in the Metro offices

No, it’s nothing to do with us. But it looks like the creators of Metro 2033 and Last Light are teasing a new game in the popular first person franchise.

A new entry in the Metro series of post-apocalyptic video games has been promised, as part of promotions for the latest novel the franchise is based on.

The site promoting Metro 2035 describes a trilogy of video games and has a time line where the next game is schedule for 2017.

‘It all adds up to something’, says the description. ‘Where the books end their story, the game will pick it up. An era of great discoveries lies ahead…’

The only problem is developer 4A Games hasn’t announced anything, and the only game they’re officially known to be working on is VR title Arkita.1 – although that’s also based around surviving a Soviet nuclear winter.

4A has admitted they’re working on two projects at the moment though, and so the third Metro game is presumably the other one.

Despite their dour atmosphere and high difficulty, the first two Metro games are extremely good first person shooters – with a strong influence from the Half-Life series, as well as elements of stealth and survival horror.

Remasters of both games were released as a double pack for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2014 and are well worth seeking out if you’re curious.
